Edmonton, Alberta — September 17, 2014 — ARC Business Solutions Inc. (ARC) announced today that it has formally launched a company-driven Bitcoin Program. Bitcoin was invented in 2008 as a peer-to-peer system for online payments that does not require a trusted central authority. Bitcoin has grown into a technology, a currency, an investment vehicle, and a community of users. The core innovation that makes Bitcoin special is that it uses consensus in a massive peer-to-peer network to verify transactions. Payments are sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution, similarly to how cash or gold can be handed directly to someone. This results in a system where payments are non-reversible, accounts cannot be frozen, and transaction fees are much lower (more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin).
At the inception of ARC’s Bitcoin Program, Graham Murray, ARC President, reflected by saying: “relationships and investments with our customers and staff are central to ARC’s success. Building and sustaining is how we will continue to demonstrate and deliver ‘business technology value’. Bitcoin is an emergent technology that demonstrates building for our people with a technology slant; it pushes what’s generally accepted as the status quo and it leverages the internet in a very different, constructive and material way. Although there are some risks with crypto-currencies, we are very proud to take a leading position and be one of the very first companies across the globe to have introduced this innovative concept into our benefits and loyalty program”.
ARC is a people-centric organization with over 110 people, in four Canadian cities, across a wide spectrum of technology talent. The company continues to thrive as a customer-focused company with a strong internal corporate culture founded in key principles such as annual customer appreciation events, creative and fun social functions, along with educational support programs, employee profit sharing and an employee ownership program. This is now further augmented by the Bitcoin Program. “ARC is excited about the future”, Murray states, “we’re well-positioned for sound delivery of technology solutions while also keeping abreast of avant-garde trends to ensure our customers’ success.”
ARC operates out of 4 regions in Canada–Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and Regina – and services a broad base of private and public sector clients. Service delivery is focused in four main technology solution verticals: Systems Delivery, Enterprise Content Management, Mobile Solutions and Managed Services; with industry expertise in Energy, Financial Services and the Public Sector.
