The customer, operating in the insurance business vertical within a large, multi-faceted organization, required an external view of their information governance landscape. The business case considered not only information management concerns, but also emergent plans on the corporate scale. ARC engaged a number of stakeholders (core line of business, HR, Finance, Legal etc.) and listened, learned, and read associated documentation, all with the purpose of detecting information management issues/concerns/risks on business, technical and compliance dimensions. The result of this work was a candid set of findings and tactical recommendations. ARC’s intent was to suggest a practical, achievable set of steps to immediately enhance information governance (a Roadmap) – in a way that’s beneficial to business users, delivers value to core business, and leverages technical assets and the good foundation of work already completed.
The project delivered a clear and concise Information Governance Roadmap to articulate discrete units of work to be conducted over the course of a three year period. For example, the first in a series of work packages focused on researching and recommending a suitable and achievable records standard—toward establishing a recommended platform upon which the organization could transform and enhance their current risk position. The work considered these major themes:
The customer specifically expressed interest in examining three bodies of knowledge related to records management:
This work evaluated each of these methodologies, and engaged stakeholders to understand current records practices in terms of delivery of core business functions, toward putting forth a practical recommendation for a records standard for adoption and implementation. This was further supported by a rationale and justification derived from industry best-practices, and overall practicality of deploying the standard within the current enterprise information management solution framework.
"The result of this work was a candid set of findings and tactical recommendations".
